Spanish Singer Julio Iglesias Faces Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Julio Iglesias, a well-known Spanish musician, is facing allegations of sexual misconduct involving two women. One of the accusers detailed instances of pressure to engage in sexual activities with the 82-year-old singer, citing physical and verbal abuse, including slapping. The other woman claimed she experienced insults, humiliation, and unwanted touching.

The accusations are currently under investigation by the Spanish judiciary, specifically the Aduiencia Nacional, a high court in Spain, which confirmed the initiation of preliminary criminal investigation proceedings. The court emphasized the confidentiality of the ongoing investigation.

Referred to as Rebeca to protect her identity, one of the alleged victims described feeling dehumanized and like a servant. Another woman, using the pseudonym Laura, recounted an incident where Iglesias allegedly kissed her and touched her inappropriately without consent.

In an interview with eldiario.es, Laura recounted an incident where Iglesias touched her inappropriately on a beach and a similar encounter at his villa’s pool in Punta Cana. While Iglesias has not publicly responded to the allegations, a purported manager of his residences dismissed the claims as baseless, expressing admiration and respect for Iglesias as a kind and respectful individual.

Spanish prosecutors have confirmed the receipt of a formal complaint against Iglesias, leading to the initiation of a criminal investigation. The Aduiencia Nacional stated that the complaint was filed on January 5, 2026, and due to the sensitive nature of the allegations, no further details could be disclosed to protect the alleged victims.

Julio Iglesias gained fame in the UK with his hit song “Begin the Beguine,” which topped the charts in 1981. He has achieved significant commercial success globally, selling over 300 million records.

Despite multiple attempts by eldiario.es to reach Iglesias for comment, no response has been received. The Mirror has also sought a response from his spokesperson.
