The Traitors, a popular TV show, unfolds in the picturesque Scottish Highlands, featuring a grand gothic castle and extensive grounds. Surprisingly, the contestants do not lodge in the castle or its vicinity but are chauffeured to an airport hotel in a 4×4 vehicle.
Ardross Castle serves as a daytime sanctuary for the contestants, where they convene for meals, strategize in the drawing room, and face eliminations at the round table. However, come evening, the participants of The Traitors retreat individually to their accommodations, detached from the opulence of the castle.
While part of the BBC series, contestants are housed at The Courtyard by Marriott hotel near Inverness Airport. This functional four-star hotel, situated close to the airport runway, stands about 40 minutes away from the majestic Ardross Castle, reserved solely for filming.
With an average rate of approximately £53 per person per night, The Courtyard by Marriott boasts amenities such as a restaurant, fitness center, meeting space, convenience store, and business center.
Alan Cumming, the host of the US version of The Traitors, offered insights into the practicality of the lodging. He humorously remarked on the contestants’ stay at the Inverness airport hotel, emphasizing the show’s unique setting.
TV presenter and former Traitors star Jonathan Ross expressed contentment with the hotel, praising its quality and food without any grievances. Addressing a fan’s query about returning to the castle for filming, Ross clarified that contestants remain at the hotel until all activities are completed.
The choice of accommodation revolves around logistical efficiency rather than luxury, ensuring adequate space for both cast and crew. This arrangement facilitates participant supervision off-camera and prevents interactions that could compromise the game’s integrity.
Host Claudia Winkleman disclosed that contestants promptly retire to their individual rooms after filming to maintain the game’s integrity by preventing external interactions.
The hotel boasts a commendable 4.3 rating on TripAdvisor, with positive reviews highlighting the staff’s dedication and the hotel’s modern amenities and comfortable rooms.
