A renowned heart specialist, Dr. Jonathan Reiner, who previously cared for former Vice President Dick Cheney, has called for a closer examination of President Donald Trump’s mental acuity. Dr. Reiner highlighted the president’s public statements and communications as cause for concern, prompting his plea to Congress.
The doctor’s concerns were sparked by Trump’s recent communication to European leaders regarding America’s foreign policy objectives. In a letter to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Trump tied his failure to secure the Nobel Peace Prize to his aspirations concerning Greenland. Trump emphasized the importance of annexing Greenland for global security, asserting his contributions to NATO and emphasizing the need for control over Greenland.
Dr. Reiner raised alarms about the president’s mental state in response to Trump’s letters, suggesting they warrant a bipartisan congressional investigation into his fitness for office. The doctor expressed dismay over Trump’s endorsement of a primary challenger to Senator Bill Cassidy, indicating a prioritization of personal interests over national well-being.
This is not the first time Dr. Reiner has voiced concerns about Trump’s health and ability to lead. He previously criticized Trump’s comments about his health regimen, particularly regarding the use of aspirin to prevent blood clotting. Despite Trump’s insistence on his good health, supported by his physician Capt. Sean Barbabella, questions persist about his overall well-being and fitness for office.
