A British woman testified in court that Barron Trump, the youngest son of former US President Donald Trump, played a vital role in saving her life. During a FaceTime call in January 2025, Barron witnessed the woman being assaulted by her ex-boyfriend and immediately dialed emergency services.
The incident took place in east London, where Barron, aged 19 at the time, contacted the authorities from the United States to report the attack. The woman’s ex-partner, 22-year-old Matvei Rumiantsev, a Russian-born former MMA fighter, is facing trial for multiple offenses including assault, bodily harm, rape, strangulation, and obstructing justice.
Prosecutors claim that Rumiantsev became enraged over the woman’s friendship with Barron, leading to the violent episode on January 18. The court heard that Rumiantsev physically assaulted the woman, making derogatory remarks and inflicting harm.
Jurors listened to Barron’s 999 call where he urgently sought help for the woman. Despite initial difficulties in communication with the emergency operator, Barron provided crucial details to assist in the rescue efforts. Police were dispatched to the scene, and bodycam footage captured their interaction with the victim.
The woman later revealed her connection to Barron Trump, identifying herself as a friend of the former president’s son. Barron, in a subsequent call with the woman while police were present, described the distressing scene he witnessed during the FaceTime call.
During the trial, the woman expressed gratitude towards Barron, emphasizing that his timely intervention had potentially saved her life. The court also heard disturbing details of the abusive relationship between the woman and Rumiantsev, including allegations of rape and manipulation.
Rumiantsev’s defense counsel challenged the woman’s account, suggesting that she had fabricated the assault claims. The barrister accused her of falsely accusing Rumiantsev of rape and defended his actions as a response to her aggressive behavior.
The trial proceedings are ongoing as both sides present their arguments and evidence, with the woman steadfast in her testimony against Rumiantsev.
