“Mother’s Battle with Rare Disorder Inspires Awareness”

Chloe-Marie Gallagher’s life took an unexpected turn when she began experiencing mysterious symptoms amidst her busy routine as a 33-year-old mother from Rotherham. Juggling work, childcare, and daily tasks, Chloe started feeling unwell without a clear reason, leaving medical professionals puzzled.

In the early months of 2025, Chloe’s health started declining with unexplained kidney pain as the initial sign. Despite multiple hospital visits, doctors couldn’t pinpoint any issues. She then encountered episodes of fainting, dizziness, extreme fatigue, and cognitive difficulties that affected her daily life.

As her condition worsened, Chloe, a former beautician, struggled to maintain focus due to symptoms like internal tremors, muscle weakness, and speech changes. Eventually, she was rushed to the hospital with stroke-like symptoms, leading to a diagnosis of Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), a condition she had never heard of before.

Now, Chloe copes with a range of fluctuating symptoms, including tremors, speech difficulties, and non-epileptic seizures that can be debilitating. Balancing her role as a mother to three children, including an autistic son, has become a significant challenge due to her condition.

Despite facing tough days with severe muscle pain and communication struggles, Chloe finds motivation in her children. She has adapted her daily routine to listen to her body’s signals, rest when needed, and avoid triggers that worsen her symptoms. Having to give up her career due to her condition was heartbreaking, but she remains determined not to let FND define her.

Chloe’s advocacy for FND awareness, documented on TikTok with a large following, aims to break the stigma and provide support for individuals living with the disorder. Through her journey, she hopes to inspire others and create a future where FND patients are met with understanding and compassion.

Supported by her family, Chloe remains resilient, determined to share her story to help others feel acknowledged and supported. Despite the challenges posed by FND, she refuses to let it silence her voice and remains committed to raising awareness and building a community for those affected by the disorder.
