The lifeless body of Maycon Douglas, a reality TV star and DJ, has been discovered washed up on a popular tourist beach in Portugal a week after he disappeared. Maycon, aged 26, went missing on New Year’s Eve after a night of DJing at a bar before leaving with a friend. His body was found on Wednesday along the shore where his car had been previously located submerged in the sea at North Beach, Nazaré, north of Lisbon.
Fisherman Antonio Silva was the one who found Maycon’s body and identified him by his tattoos. The grim discovery occurred near the same area where his vehicle was recovered. Maycon’s mother, who had been anxiously awaiting news of her son, fell ill and had to be hospitalized a day before his body was found.
His girlfriend, Raquel Coelho, expressed her grief on social media, saying, “I would give anything to have you back, anything. You appeared in my life unexpectedly, and you don’t know how grateful I am that you did.” Maycon, originally from Brazil but living in Portugal since childhood, gained fame from his appearance on season 8 of the Portuguese reality show ‘Secret Story – Casa dos Segredos.’
Authorities are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the cause of Maycon’s death, with the possibility of foul play not yet ruled out. Maycon had a substantial online following on Instagram and TikTok, sharing his daily life and performances within Portugal’s electronic music scene. His final social media post was made on December 30, the day before he went missing, reflecting on the past year and looking ahead to the future with optimism.
This unfortunate event comes after another tragic incident involving Australian DJ Courtney Mills, who passed away in Bali after a fall from a hotel balcony while vacationing with her dogs in Kuta. Courtney suffered severe injuries and underwent emergency surgery but succumbed to her injuries two days later. Her sister shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram, emphasizing the family’s presence by her side until the end.
