A man, Jared James Dicus, who brutally murdered his wife, Anggy Diaz, shortly after their marriage, has been discovered deceased in prison. Dicus, 24, confessed to the crime and was sentenced to 40 years in prison, eligible for parole in 2043.
The couple tied the knot in October 2022, although concerns were raised by friends due to apparent relationship issues. Tragically, in January of the following year, Anggy’s mutilated body, with signs of decapitation, was found in their home.
Dicus was found dead by hanging in his cell at the Wainwright Unit in Houston County, Texas. Despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead by emergency services late on a Friday evening.
The discovery of Anggy’s remains was made by Dicus’ father, who promptly alerted the authorities. Law enforcement responded to the scene at the couple’s residence located outside Houston, noting a grim crime scene with blood splatters.
Court documents revealed the gruesome details, including Anggy’s fatal stab wounds and the presence of her severed head in the shower. Prior to his arrest, Dicus was captured on surveillance footage stealing and consuming beer from a local market where Anggy worked.
A friend of Anggy disclosed concerns about Dicus’s behavior, citing his possessiveness and erratic actions. Additionally, she recalled a Christmas party where Dicus displayed agitation while attendees were enjoying themselves.
Comments from Waller County Sheriff Troy Guidry indicated prior disturbances involving the couple, though nothing forewarned the extreme violence that led to Anggy’s death. Anggy, who desired children, was advised to delay pregnancy by her friend, considering the alarming statistics on intimate partner violence.
