Former Spandau Ballet lead vocalist, Ross Davidson, is facing accusations of sexually assaulting and raping women. Testimony in court suggests that the 37-year-old believed he could easily obtain “sex on demand.”
Known by his stage name Ross Wild, the singer had previously appeared in the Queen-inspired musical “We Will Rock You” in London’s West End. Additionally, he had a stint as the lead singer for the renowned 80s band Spandau Ballet in 2018.
During the proceedings at Wood Green Crown Court, it was disclosed that the Aberdeen-born performer, who is also an aspiring songwriter, allegedly raped one woman and recorded himself inappropriately touching another. Davidson, residing in Finchley, north London, has entered a plea of not guilty to the rape charge dating back to March 2015.
Furthermore, Davidson refuted allegations of trying to rape and sexually assaulting another woman, with the reported incident occurring in December 2019. The court was informed that Davidson had already admitted to a charge of voyeurism against the same woman in December 2019.
Prosecutor Richard Hearnden stated, “Despite being perceived as a sex symbol due to his attractiveness, musical talent, and charm, there are allegations from two women revealing a darker side to Davidson that was not initially evident to them.”
The accuser of the London rape incident described feeling scared, intimidated, and helpless during the assault, emphasizing Davidson’s physical superiority and her concerns for her safety.
In response, defense counsel Charlotte Newell KC indicated that Davidson would claim there was no sexual interaction with the woman in London as he did not find her sexually appealing. The trial is ongoing.
