Black smoke was seen rising from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York following a fire that occurred in the airside section of the facility. Social media posts captured images of the black smoke emanating from an area near Terminal 8, with emergency responders present at the scene.
A video footage showed thick black smoke billowing from behind a security fence at the airport as a result of a vehicle fire around 7:25 am local time. The incident was confirmed to involve a tow truck owned by American Airlines, which was promptly extinguished by the Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting team.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, and airport operations remained unaffected. The airport spokesperson stated that the fire was contained at Terminal 8 and urged contacting American Airlines for additional details.
