Prince Harry’s former girlfriend, Catherine Ommanney, has responded to allegations that she departed a hotel in Majorica without settling her bill by attributing it to a “technical error.”
Ommanney, aged 53, was taken into custody on suspicion of fraud after the management of the three-star Playas del Rey Hotel claimed she had not paid her bill of nearly £450. During her nine-day stay, she accumulated a charge of €500 (£434) and reportedly provided a credit card with insufficient funds.
Nevertheless, she vehemently denied the accusations of non-payment, labeling them as untrue. Ommanney insisted that the bill had been fully paid and blamed the hotel for a technical mistake, expressing her intention to seek redress through the legal system.
Speaking to the local publication Majorca Daily Bulletin, Ommanney described the incident as a “nightmare of a day,” attributing it to a clerical error. She clarified that the bill had been settled via a bank transfer, as the hotel did not accept credit cards. Ommanney also mentioned her displeasure at being detained in a holiday cell.
Following her arrest, Ommanney was seen with a Civil Guard officer at approximately 7 pm the previous day, heading to a closed-door hearing in Palma. It was reported that she appeared in court under a previous surname due to a past marriage.
She was released on bail pending further investigation. Her lawyer declined to comment on the situation without her authorization, stating that they had not reviewed the press coverage of her arrest.
When contacted for a statement, a receptionist at the Playas del Rey Hotel declined to provide any comments to the press this morning. Ommanney refrained from making any initial statements after her release, and the location of her arrest remains undisclosed.
Ommanney, known for her role as one of the original main cast members on the Real Housewives of DC, previously revealed a brief romantic involvement with Prince Harry in 2006. She highlighted their age difference at the time, emphasizing that Harry sought a deeper connection with someone more experienced.
“I do believe he enjoyed my company because I’m a little bit older and wiser and not like the 20-year-olds or whatever he had been hanging out with,” Ommanney shared. “I had the patience to listen to what he said and give him some advice on life.”
She speculated that Harry was searching for a meaningful relationship beyond superficial encounters, suggesting that their age gap was insignificant to her.
