A significant change is imminent, affecting certain households that rely on BT TV for online content streaming. Users of specific set-top boxes are being alerted about the upcoming unavailability of the popular Netflix app due to service upgrades that older hardware cannot support.
The affected BT TV boxes are the TV Recordable Box (G4) and the TV Box (Z4). BT explained that Netflix’s app update aims to enhance user experience, leading to incompatibility with these particular boxes.
Starting from March 4, 2026, customers using the mentioned boxes will lose access to Netflix content like Drive to Survive, Stranger Things, Seven Dials, and Breaking Bad unless they switch to newer models. BT assured that newer box models will not face the Netflix block.
Furthermore, BT emphasized that existing Netflix subscriptions will remain unaffected, ensuring continued access on supported devices. Customers with the affected boxes are encouraged to contact BT for guidance on upgrading to a newer model.
Netflix will still be accessible through various alternative devices such as smart TVs, Fire TV Sticks, gaming consoles, and Apple TV boxes.
