Emmy award-winning actor and director Timothy Busfield is facing serious allegations of child sexual abuse, with an arrest warrant now issued for the veteran Hollywood figure. The 68-year-old actor, known for his roles in Field of Dreams, The West Wing, and Thirtysomething, is under criminal investigation following a report from a physician at the University of New Mexico Hospital regarding alleged sexual misconduct.
The investigation, initiated by the police in November 2024, was prompted by the doctor’s report. Parents of the minors involved revealed to Officer Marvin Kirk Brown, who issued the warrant, that their children, who were child actors, had interacted with Busfield on the set of the FOX series The Cleaning Lady, where he was working as a director.
According to court records filed by Albuquerque police on January 4, the allegations state that Busfield instructed the siblings to call him “Uncle Tim” and engaged in inappropriate physical contact with them, including tickling their stomach and legs. Hospital staff noted signs of grooming on the children, with one child claiming the abuse started when he was seven years old, with several instances of inappropriate contact alleged.
The director’s relationship with the boys reportedly grew closer during the production of the series, as stated by the parents in the arrest warrant. Concerns were raised when the children’s mother, aware of rumors about Busfield’s behavior, asked her sons if anyone had made them feel uncomfortable, to which they mentioned incidents involving “Uncle Tim.”
The parents sought advice from legal counsel, leading them to take the children to UNMH, where professionals indicated signs of grooming. In 2025, one of the minors disclosed to a therapist that Busfield had made inappropriate physical contact with him on the set of The Cleaning Lady. Busfield admitted to engaging in playful contact with the children but denied any wrongdoing.
Facing charges of sexual contact with a minor and child abuse, Busfield’s arrest warrant reveals previous allegations of sexual assault dating back to 1994. Despite his extensive career with over 700 credits in television and cinema, including an Emmy Award for Thirtysomething, Busfield’s reputation now faces serious scrutiny due to these allegations.
