As the holiday season approaches, many are turning their attention to festive activities leading up to Christmas. An enchanting ice skating rink awaits just a short flight away from the UK, nestled within Munich Airport’s winter wonderland, now in its 25th year.
Munich Airport will once again host its renowned Christmas market, featuring a sprawling 600 square meter ice rink and approximately 40 stalls adorned with twinkling lights and festive decorations. Visitors can explore handmade gifts, delectable treats, and unique culinary delights in a cozy setting among a festive pine forest.
For just £4.40 (€5), guests can enjoy unlimited skating on the expansive ice rink from 11am to 9pm daily, offering a more affordable and extended experience compared to many UK venues. Skate rentals are available for an additional £4.40 (€5), with the option to also try curling for around £22 (€25) per hour.
In addition to ice skating, a variety of activities await visitors, including ice discos, Christmas crafting sessions, face painting, magic shows, and encounters with Santa Claus on select dates. Evenings at the airport will feature live performances by regional artists spanning different music genres, with the option to embark on a magical Christmas light tour after dark.
A new initiative this year is the “Wish Tree,” where guests can fulfill a child’s wish by selecting a note from the tree and purchasing a gift to be dropped off at the designated “Elk Hut” by 18 December.
The winter wonderland festivities at Munich Airport Center (MAC) will commence on 14 November and run until 28 December, offering daily enjoyment from 11am to 9pm (closing at 4pm on Christmas Eve).
