Eligibility for a Cold Weather Payment is determined by claiming specific benefits or mortgage support. If entitled, the payment is automatically deposited into your bank account within 14 working days. However, application is required if you have a baby or if a child under five moves in with you.
Managed by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), the Cold Weather Payments program is scheduled to continue until March 31, 2026. Notably, Cold Weather Payments are not available in Scotland, where they have been replaced by the Winter Heating Payment worth £59.75.
