Netflix Announces “The One About Matthew Perry” Docuseries

In the eyes of fans, Matthew Perry’s portrayal of Chandler Bing on the iconic series “Friends” was immensely popular throughout its decade-long run. However, following his passing in 2023, many found it challenging to reconcile the news of his ketamine addiction with the beloved character he embodied.

Netflix has announced a forthcoming three-part docuseries titled “The One About Matthew Perry,” aiming to provide a more comprehensive depiction of the actor’s life. The series will delve into Perry’s evolution from a rising comedic talent to his renowned role on the NBC hit show. It will feature exclusive testimonies from those closest to him, including lifelong friends and his sister, Mia Perry Bowick, a grief specialist who has openly discussed her mourning process after his demise.

Bowick, in a statement, expressed her readiness to share her memories and shed light on the complexities of loving Matthew beyond his public persona as Chandler and his struggles with addiction.

Tragically, Perry was discovered deceased from a ketamine overdose in his home hot tub at 54. Five individuals pleaded guilty to various charges related to providing him with the drug, and Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who supplied Perry with ketamine, is currently appealing his 30-month prison sentence.

Netflix has promised that the docuseries will not only feature fond recollections of Perry but will also reveal new insights into his personal struggles, honoring his legacy of transparency and advocacy. The series is set to premiere on October 27.
