A tragic incident occurred at a theme park in Florida where a 70-year-old woman passed away after riding the Revenge of the Mummy roller coaster at Universal Orlando. The woman was discovered unresponsive when the high-speed ride came to a stop on November 25. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she could not be saved. Although the exact cause of her death was not disclosed, records show that eight other incidents, including complaints of chest pains, sickness, and back pains, were reported at the park between October and December.
The report did not provide specific details about the circumstances leading to the woman’s death, citing privacy concerns and stating that the information reflects only what was reported at the time of the incident. The Revenge of the Mummy ride, known for its top speed of 45 mph, sudden stops, backward motion, and a 39-foot drop, takes place mostly in a dark environment, enhancing the thrill for riders.
Since its opening in 2004, the roller coaster has been associated with numerous injuries, totaling 21 reported incidents. Universal, the park’s spokesperson, refrained from commenting on any pending claims. The Orlando Police Department stated that no death investigation had been initiated, and the Orlando Fire Department had no additional information on the case.
In a separate incident, a teenager suffered injuries last year at a different theme park when he was ejected from his seat on a 360-degree swing ride. The 13-year-old boy fell from the ride, breaking a leg and two fingers upon impact. Eyewitnesses observed the harrowing event as the swing reached its peak height before the boy fell.
As the swing began its descent, the teenager attempted to hold on but ultimately fell from a considerable height. He was promptly taken to a hospital, where it was determined that he had sustained multiple fractures.
