Teen Trevor Wynn Declared Dead, Wakes Up Alive

South Yorkshire Police informed a devastated family that their teenage son had passed away in a tragic car accident close to Christmas. However, to their astonishment, the boy, Trevor Wynn, woke up from a coma later.

The incident occurred in the early hours of December 13, when a silver Toyota Corolla veered off the road, resulting in the presumed death of 17-year-old Trevor Wynn. Shockingly, three weeks after the accident, it was revealed that Trevor was alive and conscious in a hospital bed, identifying himself to medical staff.

Tragically, Joshua Johnson, 18, lost his life in the crash, while initially, the police mistakenly believed he was the one undergoing treatment in the hospital. Additionally, 17-year-old Summer Louise Scott, who was driving the vehicle at the time, also met a tragic end.

Trevor’s family had already begun making arrangements for his funeral over the Christmas period, initially scheduled for the upcoming Friday, until the unexpected turn of events unfolded.

Following the accident, an 18-year-old was arrested under suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, while a 19-year-old was also detained on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. Both individuals are currently out on bail as investigations continue.

Assistant Chief Constable Colin McFarlane announced that South Yorkshire Police have voluntarily referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) to assess the identification procedures post the road collision.

The family of Trevor was initially informed that he was one of the casualties in the car crash that occurred on December 13 around 3 am. Despite the dire circumstances, the 17-year-old managed to survive the collision and had been in a coma at the hospital for three weeks.

It wasn’t until 22 days after the accident that Trevor’s family was informed of his survival, as they had spent the holiday season preparing for his funeral under the mistaken belief of his demise.

A GoFundMe page set up by Trevor’s family, anticipating his passing, was later updated with the miraculous news of his recovery. Conversely, Joshua Johnson’s family was initially informed that he was alive and fighting for his life in the hospital during Christmas, only to discover that he had tragically passed away in the collision.

Assistant Chief Constable Colin McFarlane of South Yorkshire Police acknowledged the potential added distress caused by the misidentification and subsequent events.

The tragic accident occurred on Todwick Road, near Dinnington in South Yorkshire, where the vehicle left the road.
