Some of Taylor Swift’s music has been taken down from social media videos shared by U.S. President Donald Trump’s campaign and the White House. The White House and a representative for Swift did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Swift has not recently addressed Trump directly but publicly endorsed his Democratic rival, then-Vice President Kamala Harris, in 2024. During the 2020 campaign, Swift expressed her disapproval of Trump becoming president through social media posts.
Trump has been critical of Swift, expressing his dislike for her after she endorsed Harris. Other artists, such as Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande, have also requested that the Trump administration refrain from using their songs.
In recent weeks, the Trump campaign featured two of Swift’s songs on its TikTok page. One video captioned “Red (Donald Trump’s Version)” referenced Swift’s popular tracks. Additionally, a video in June showcased Trump interacting with children, attending a UFC match, and participating in a rally alongside Swift’s song “I Knew It, I Knew You” from the fictitious Toy Story 5 soundtrack.
This was the third instance in recent months where the Trump administration or campaign utilized Swift’s songs. Previously, the White House incorporated her song “High Infidelity” in a video featuring the crew of Artemis II, and another TikTok video showcased “The Fate of Ophelia” from Swift’s album “The Life of a Showgirl.”
The latter video generated significant social media buzz, with a White House spokesperson explaining that it was strategically created to attract media attention. The Trump communications team frequently pairs popular songs with imagery related to various events, including immigration policies, military actions, and the arrest of former Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro.
