“Nine-Year-Old Girl Fatally Stabbed in Somerset Home”

A tragic incident unfolded as a nine-year-old girl, Aria Thorpe, succumbed to a fatal stab wound to her chest in her residence in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset. Paramedics declared her deceased at 6:58 pm on December 15. During the inquest opening at Avon Coroners’ Court, Coroner’s officer Andrew Eastwood confirmed the cause of death as a chest stab wound.

Dr. Peter Harrowing, the area coroner for Avon, mandated that the complete post-mortem report be presented by February 16 and identified Aria’s family and the accused perpetrator as involved parties in the case. Dr. Harrowing decided not to schedule an inquest due to ongoing proceedings but set a review date for April 10.

The review date, as clarified by the coroner, will not involve a court hearing. He emphasized that any future coronial actions would be contingent upon the outcomes of police investigations or potential criminal proceedings. A 15-year-old boy, facing charges for Aria’s murder, appeared in Bristol Crown Court previously. The trial date has been tentatively set for June 15 by Judge Peter Blair KC, with an anticipated duration of two weeks.

Following Aria’s tragic passing, her father, Tom Thorpe, expressed heartfelt tributes, reminiscing about her spirited and loving nature. Similarly, Aria’s maternal family described her as a radiant, joyful soul who adored singing and dancing. They shared profound grief over her loss and appreciated the support and condolences received from friends and the community during this challenging time.
