An examination of the death of Renee Good, a mother, revealed which of the three gunshots fired by an ICE officer in Minneapolis caused her death.
The autopsy, conducted at the request of Renee’s family, indicated that she was shot in the left forearm and then in the breast, but neither of these wounds was fatal as they did not hit any vital organs.
A third bullet entered Renee’s head near her temple and exited on the right side, causing a graze wound, according to attorneys representing her family. The autopsy was performed by an esteemed independent medical pathologist, as stated by the family’s legal team.
Lawyer Antonio M. Romanucci, who previously represented the family of George Floyd, expressed confidence in the evidence gathered during the investigation. He emphasized that the video footage from the incident on January 7, 2026, clearly supports their case under the standards of reasonable policing.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office has not released its autopsy report on the January 7 incident where Renee, 37, was shot while sitting in her SUV during an encounter with ICE agent Jonathan Ross.
After Ross recorded Renee and her partner with his mobile phone and stood in front of their vehicle, another ICE agent instructed Renee to exit the SUV, leading to her driving the car forward. Conflicting reports emerged regarding whether Renee intentionally struck Ross with the vehicle.
Following the shooting, Ross was heard making derogatory remarks before Renee’s SUV collided with parked cars. The incident has sparked a divisive response, with conservatives supporting Ross and liberals condemning the shooting.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem labeled Renee a “domestic terrorist” without evidence and defended Ross’s actions as self-defense. In contrast, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey criticized federal officials and demanded that ICE leave the city, prompting an FBI investigation into the shooting.
