“Decade Since Murder Conviction Based on Chilling Deathbed Video”

A full decade has elapsed since the conviction of Don Collins for murder, which was based on a chilling deathbed video where the victim identified him and exposed his horrifying motive.

Collins committed a brutal act against his neighbor, Robbie Middleton, on his eighth birthday. The celebration turned into a nightmare as Collins tied Robbie to a tree, doused him in petrol, and set him on fire.

Despite suffering burns on 99% of his body, Robbie miraculously clung to life for over a decade before succumbing to skin cancer caused by the severe burns.

In 2015, Collins was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the crime, as Robbie’s mother, Colleen, shared her unsettling observations about the killer’s demeanor.

As we near the 11th anniversary of the case, we recall the tragic events that unfolded. Robbie was the youngest of three children to Colleen and Bobby, known for his love of birthdays. On June 28, 1998, he eagerly celebrated with a new tent, planning to enjoy the day with friends and family.

On his way home, Robbie encountered Collins, who had allegedly assaulted him before. Fearing exposure, Collins attacked him with petrol, causing severe burns. Robbie managed to make it home, where his mother found him in a horrific state.

Despite enduring numerous surgeries and skin grafts, Robbie’s positive attitude inspired those around him. However, his suffering increased over time, leading to a diagnosis of skin cancer due to the burns.

Tragically, Robbie passed away in April 2011 at the age of 20. Before his death, he recorded a video accusing Collins of rape and assault, leading to murder charges against Collins.

Collins, who had a history of violent behavior, including threatening others with fire, was found guilty and sentenced to the maximum term of 40 years in prison. Colleen expressed relief at the verdict, believing that Robbie would have been pleased with the justice served.

Prior to the trial, Robbie’s parents were awarded $150 billion in a civil case against Collins, symbolizing acknowledgment of their son’s suffering. Colleen reflected on the verdict, emphasizing that it was not about the money but about recognizing the injustice done to their child.
