Apple has rolled out a crucial update for iPhone users to address a wireless charging issue affecting some devices. The problem hinders wireless charging, forcing affected users to rely solely on MagSafe charging. Although Apple mentions that only a limited number of users are impacted, it is recommended for all iPhone owners to ensure their devices are updated.
The iPhone 17 series, including the Pro and Pro Max models, as well as the iPhone Air, are confirmed to require this update. According to Apple, the update resolves an issue that may disrupt wired charging on these models when the battery is nearly empty.
To update your device, navigate to Settings, then General, and select Software Update. Look for the iOS 26.5.1 update and choose to install immediately or schedule it for a convenient time. It is advisable to connect to Wi-Fi or have sufficient mobile data as the update is a large 13.6GB file.
