“Bulgaria Tops List for Affordable Summer Vacations 2026”

Bulgaria has been identified as the top choice for an affordable summer vacation this year, according to recommendations for families. TravelSupermarket’s recent analysis during the peak booking season in January highlighted Bulgaria as the most budget-friendly country for all-inclusive sunshine holidays in 2026, averaging £760 per person for a week-long stay. Following closely behind are Morocco at £852 per person and Malta at £862.

The data, based on family holiday searches between October 5 of the previous year and last week, for trips planned from May to September 2026, revealed significant price variations among popular destinations. Notably, the average cost for a week in Bulgaria has decreased by £54 per person, marking a 7% drop since the previous summer. In contrast, Cyprus ranked as the priciest destination at £1,186 per person.

Spain, a perennial favorite among British travelers, including the Balearic and Canary Islands, secured the fourth spot on this year’s list at £888 per person, with prices relatively stable compared to 2025. Turkey placed 11th at an average cost of £1,057, while Greece followed in 12th place at £1,096.

Croatia emerged as the 10th most affordable destination for the upcoming summer, averaging £1,046 per person. The country experienced a notable 12% price reduction since the previous year, making it £136 cheaper for vacationers this season.

For long-haul travelers, TravelSupermarket highlighted Cape Verde as the most cost-effective option at £1,247 per person, trailed by the United Arab Emirates at £1,297, the Dominican Republic at £1,664, and Mexico at £1,694.

Chris Webber, head of holidays and deals at TravelSupermarket, commented on the findings, stating, “Bulgaria appears poised to regain its status as the leading budget-friendly all-inclusive destination. Despite some price increases, Tunisia and Morocco continue to rank among the top five most affordable countries, offering excellent value for families. Croatia, which had been perceived as a pricey destination post its adoption of the Euro in January 2023, has seen a significant 12% price drop, welcoming families who were previously deterred by higher costs.”
