The latest data from the UK regulator Ofcom reveals varying performance levels among major broadband providers in the country. TalkTalk, Vodafone, and EE ranked below the national average in terms of customer complaints, as highlighted in Ofcom’s recent report. Of the three, EE, TalkTalk, and Vodafone received the highest number of broadband complaints, with TalkTalk and Vodafone experiencing an increase in complaints compared to the previous quarter.
On the positive side, Plusnet emerged as the top performer with the fewest complaints, despite being under the same ownership as EE. Ofcom noted that Plusnet received the least number of complaints among broadband providers. Following Plusnet, Sky secured the second spot for having minimal issues, while Virgin Media showed significant improvement, now ranking as the third best in terms of complaints.
In terms of complaints per 100,000 customers, Plusnet had 4, Sky had 6, and Virgin Media had 7. Further down the list, BT, Vodafone, and EE each had 10 complaints per 100,000 customers, while TalkTalk had 10 complaints as well.
Additionally, Ofcom tracks complaints across various services, including landline and pay-TV. Utility Warehouse led in landline services with just one complaint per 100,000 customers. Sky, Virgin Media, and Vodafone also received positive feedback in this category. However, TalkTalk ranked at the bottom with 8 complaints per 100,000 customers.
Although complaint levels remained stable across broadband, landline, mobile, and pay-TV services, there was no significant improvement according to the latest Ofcom data. Ernest Doku, a telecoms expert at uswitch.com, expressed concern over the lack of progress in the industry and highlighted the importance of providers justifying any upcoming price increases. Plusnet’s exceptional performance in customer service was acknowledged, emphasizing the need for customers to compare deals and seek better value for their money.
Overall, while complaints have not escalated, the industry’s stagnant performance raises concerns among consumers facing higher bills.
