Twelve regions in the UK are preparing for significant snowfall and a drop in temperatures later this month, as per the most recent weather data. New forecasts from WXCharts indicate that wintry weather is set to move across the country on January 15.
The most intense snow is expected in central Scotland, with depths projected to reach up to 28cm in Cairngorms National Park. Accumulations in northern and central Scotland will range from 3cm to 27cm.
Southern Scotland will see lighter snowfall up to 2cm, while the Lake District is forecasted to receive around 1cm of snow. The lowest temperatures are anticipated in central Scotland, with temperatures plummeting to a bone-chilling -8C in Cairngorms National Park. Cities like Aberdeen and Glasgow in Scotland will have temperatures ranging between -1C and -7C.
Northern England can expect temperatures between 0C and -2C, while the rest of England, Wales, and Northern Ireland will experience milder weather ranging from 1C to 5C, according to the Express.
The Met Office’s outlook for the upcoming period indicates changeable and occasionally unsettled conditions across the UK. Low-pressure systems moving in from the Atlantic are likely to bring showers or longer spells of rain, particularly in the west where rainfall totals may be highest. Strong winds or gales could occur, especially along coastlines and if deep low-pressure areas form near the UK.
Intermittent dry spells are expected between weather systems, with temperatures predicted to be near or slightly above the seasonal average.
