Police officers and paramedics were injured in two separate crashes on the A130 in Essex. The incidents occurred when three police officers and two paramedics were struck by a van while attending to a previous road accident involving a Nissan X-Trail on January 10 around 12:15 am. As a result, these emergency workers were hospitalized, with one paramedic and one police officer sustaining serious injuries.
Essex Police reported that three individuals have been arrested in connection with the collisions. A 23-year-old man from Canvey was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, theft of a motor vehicle, and driving under the influence of drink or drugs. Additionally, a 29-year-old man from Westcliff and a 39-year-old man from Canvey were also arrested on various charges related to the incidents.
Chief Superintendent Morgan Cronin expressed sympathy for the injured emergency workers and their families, emphasizing that they are receiving support from the police force. He urged the public to refrain from speculation and allow the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the facts of the incidents. The arrested individuals are currently in custody, and inquiries are ongoing.
