An eight-year-old child was tragically abducted and killed by a depraved murderer, who then dismembered the body and stored the victim’s feet in his freezer. Levi Aron, the twisted perpetrator, passed away in prison last month, marking the 15th anniversary of his heinous crime.
The young boy, Leiby Kletzky, had been permitted to walk home alone for the first time. Unfortunately, he got lost and sought help from Aron, leading to a horrific fate.
The disturbing incident resurfaced with Aron’s death, reminding the public of the appalling case. Leiby was on his way back from a religious camp in Borough Park, Brooklyn, on July 11, 2011, with plans to meet his mother halfway. Despite practicing the route with his parents the day before, he went missing after seeking aid from Aron.
Aron later confessed that instead of escorting the child home, he took him to a wedding in Rockland County. Upon realizing the massive search efforts for the boy, he returned to his residence in Kensington.
Following an evening spent watching TV together, Aron claimed to have gone to work the next day, only to return and prepare a meal for the boy, who showed signs of being restrained. The Borough Park area, known for its large Orthodox Jewish community, rallied thousands of volunteers to search for the missing child.
In a state of panic during the search, Aron drugged and suffocated Leiby, dismembered his body, and disposed of the remains. Shockingly, he kept the child’s severed feet in his freezer, just two miles from the boy’s residence.
Police visited Aron’s apartment on July 13, discovering incriminating evidence such as bloodstains, knives, and the victim’s feet in the freezer. Aron then directed authorities to the boy’s dismembered body parts in a nearby dumpster.
Upon his arrest, Aron admitted to kidnapping and murdering the boy, receiving a prison sentence of 40 years to life. Nearly 15 years into his incarceration, Aron passed away in the hospital at 49 years old.
After being hospitalized due to a medical condition in August, Aron’s death on December 3 was anticipated. His family, who faced numerous death threats following the murder, requested an autopsy.
The victim’s father, Nachman Kletzky, condemned the senseless and malicious act that took his son’s life and chose not to comment on Aron’s demise.
