EE has recently unveiled an enhanced version of its Scam Guard service to tackle the increasing threat of scams targeting mobile users in the UK. The upgrade, priced at £2 per month for EE pay-monthly customers, aims to provide improved protection against cyber thieves employing various tactics to deceive individuals into divulging sensitive information.
Despite the additional cost, EE assures subscribers that the enhanced Scam Guard offers significantly enhanced security measures. Since its initial launch in 2024, the Scam Guard service has successfully thwarted 169 million scam and spam attempts, with the new version expected to prevent a greater number of scams over the next year.
At the core of the upgraded Scam Guard is AI Triple-Lock Protection, which features three digital safety components powered by Norton’s Genie AI engine. These components include Safe Email, providing proactive scam protection for email accounts round-the-clock, Safe SMS, utilizing advanced AI to identify complex scams in text messages for real-time protection, and Safe Web, leveraging AI to safeguard customers while shopping or browsing online by blocking malicious websites before they can cause harm.
Furthermore, the updated Scam Guard introduces Scam Assistant, enabling customers to upload screenshots of suspicious texts, emails, websites, or social media messages to receive immediate guidance on their safety. The service also includes Social Media Monitoring and Dark Web Monitoring features, which monitor a customer’s online presence for any suspicious activity and promptly alert them to take necessary actions.
