BT is launching a new method for internet access that goes beyond merely linking devices to the web. The company’s fresh Smart Hub 3 Wi-Fi router is set to debut in UK households soon, offering enhanced connectivity as well as additional security features.
The router is equipped with technology that can automatically detect risky websites, alerting users to potential malware or other online dangers. Moreover, it can identify hacker attempts to breach smart home gadgets like internet-connected cameras and prevent suspicious activities proactively.
Users can track any identified threats using the Hub Threat Protect feature within the MyBT app. These enhancements are designed to enhance households’ online security and preempt possible cyber threats.
Apart from security, the Smart Hub 3 emphasizes performance. It supports Complete Wi-Fi Plus, which helps extend signal coverage across the home and eliminate dead spots in weaker areas.
As per visuals reviewed by Mirror Online, the Smart Hub 3 boasts a sleek, minimalist design with a small BT logo at its center.
A notable detail is that this router supports Wi-Fi 6 instead of the newer Wi-Fi 7 standard seen in some rival devices, including EE routers.
While Wi-Fi 7 offers faster speeds, lower latency, and enhanced reliability, many current devices do not yet support this standard. Hence, Wi-Fi 6 remains more than adequate for most households and represents a significant upgrade from older Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4 equipment.
To obtain this new router, BT’s Smart Hub 3 will be accessible to all new subscribers, with some existing customers possibly eligible for an upgrade.
