In a separate and similarly tragic incident, a mother of three, Barbara Brewington, lost her life after being attacked by a stray dog she had taken in, which subsequently turned violent towards her and her pet. Barbara, 38, was found in the garden of her Bonnetsville, North Carolina home on November 23, suffering from severe injuries caused by the stray dog. Despite her efforts to protect her smaller pet from the aggressive stray, Barbara sustained fatal injuries. The stray dog was euthanized by a specialized animal control team.
Sheriff Jimmy Thornton of Sampson County recounted the unfortunate events, stating that deputies discovered Barbara Brewington outside her home with serious injuries, which led to her untimely death. Barbara managed to save her smaller dog before collapsing inside the house.
