In southern Manitoba, authorities are treating the death of a four-year-old girl and the severe injuries sustained by two toddlers at a residence as suspicious, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). The Manitoba First Nations Police Service responded to a call at a home in Long Plain First Nation after emergency services reported a young child in medical distress with injuries on Sunday morning. Tragically, the four-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The two other children in the household, aged one and two, were rushed to the hospital. One was initially in critical condition, but both are now stable.
Given the suspicious circumstances surrounding the four-year-old’s death and the serious injuries to the other children, the RCMP has taken charge of the investigation. Supt. Rob Lasson, overseeing Manitoba RCMP major crime services, described the incident as deeply concerning and emphasized the community’s quest for answers regarding the events within the household.
