Sky Sports Host Shares Cancer Journey & Triumph

Sky Sports host Jo Wilson recently shared her cancer journey, expressing her initial fears of death upon learning her diagnosis. Diagnosed with cervical cancer in June 2022 during a routine test, Wilson underwent six weeks of treatment after the cancer was found in her lymph nodes. Fortunately, she received the all-clear in June 2023, marking two years cancer-free.

Wilson, who joined Sky Sports in 2011, underwent radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and brachytherapy to combat the disease, which ultimately led to early menopause affecting her career. The broadcaster, also a mother to daughter Mabel born in 2020, revealed her emotional turmoil during the ordeal in a Sky Sports News documentary called “Football, Cancer, and Me.”

In the documentary, Wilson conversed with colleagues Emma Saunders and Tony Mowbray about their own battles with cancer. Mowbray disclosed his bowel cancer diagnosis, while Saunders underwent surgery due to a brain infection following a thyroid cancer diagnosis, leaving a visible scar. Reflecting on the challenges faced during their health struggles, they hope to inspire others to seek medical help when needed.

Sky Sports has enhanced its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle to include popular streaming services like HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+, and Hayu, along with comprehensive coverage of 135 channels and live sports events, including the Premier League and EFL matches.
