“Nutrition-Focused Food Products Recalled in Northern Ireland”

Two food products with a focus on nutrition have been recalled urgently due to potential health risks for specific groups. The affected items, available at various retailers including Tesco, can be returned for a full refund.

The recall pertains to all batches of Purepower Nutrition’s Chicken & Chorizo Paella (400g) and Chicken Chow Mein (400g) in Northern Ireland. The Chicken & Chorizo Paella has been mistakenly packaged with Chicken Chow Mein, prompting the precautionary recall of all items.

According to a statement on the Food Standards Agency (FSA) website, the mispacked Chicken & Chorizo Paella contains milk, posing a potential health risk to individuals with milk allergies or intolerance. Consequently, both the Chicken & Chorizo Paella and Chicken Chow Mein are being recalled as a safety measure.

Purepower Nutrition, known for its sports and nutrition products promoting health, fitness, and weight loss, offers the Chicken Chow Mein described as ideal for gym nights, providing a takeaway-like experience without the aftermath.

The FSA has confirmed the recall of all 400g packs of Chicken & Chorizo Paella and Chicken Chow Mein with use-by dates up to January 17 and January 15, 2026, respectively, across Northern Ireland. Notices explaining the reasons for the recall have been disseminated by Purepower Nutrition.

Additionally, Purepower Nutrition has advised consumers not to consume the affected products and to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. The company has assured that other products in its range are not affected by the recall and provided an email contact for concerns.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has also issued a recall for the Purepower Nutrition Chicken Chow Mein and Chicken & Chorizo Paella, affecting 400g packs of Chicken Chow Mein with a use-by date of January 15, 2026.

While Tesco carries the Purepower range in the British Isles, only certain batches sold in its Republic of Ireland stores have been impacted by the recall. Shoppers in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland who bought Purepower products at Tesco are not affected, except for those in Northern Ireland who purchased from other retailers.

In cases where a food product poses a health risk, an allergy alert is issued, leading to withdrawal or recall of the affected item. The FSA emphasizes the importance of accurate allergy labeling to mitigate risks to consumers.
