“Multiple Arrests Made in Dog Cruelty Cases”

Three individuals have been taken into custody following the discovery of a disturbing scene where 29 deceased dogs were found piled up in a backyard, while 24 other dogs were located inside the property in poor health. The arrests of Curtis Dewayne Haralson, Patricia Ann Sims, and Tiffany Ann Sims occurred after authorities responded to a neighbor’s tip-off about the animals’ welfare concerns.

Law enforcement officers responding to the report found the deceased dogs, ranging from puppies to adults, placed in bags and stacked in the yard. Additionally, 24 emaciated dogs were found inside the residence. While no charges have been filed yet, the sheriff’s office indicated that felony charges are likely for all three suspects.

In a separate incident in Alabama, a mother, Marchelle Pertilla, and her partner, Eugene Medrano, face charges related to child abuse and dog cruelty after their 14-year-old daughter was discovered living in unsanitary conditions with multiple dogs, including one deceased. Pertilla is accused of six counts of dog cruelty, while Medrano faces five such charges. The living conditions in the trailer were described as filthy, with the presence of waste and insects, and the girl was reportedly left alone as her mother and stepfather resided in another state.

The young girl’s plight came to light when she was found walking down a road complaining of health issues, leading to the arrests of her parents. Authorities discovered a dead dog in a closet and observed unsanitary conditions throughout the trailer. The couple explained that their daughter preferred to stay with her service animals, but investigations are ongoing to determine why the girl was left unsupervised for an extended period.

Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch expressed the need to investigate further into the circumstances surrounding the girl’s living situation and if any reports were made to law enforcement. The case remains under scrutiny as authorities seek answers regarding the neglect and abandonment of the teenager.
