A tragic incident at Wet’n Wild water park in Itupeva, Brazil, resulted in the death of a 24-year-old lifeguard, Guilherme da Guerra Domingos, as he attempted to retrieve a tourist’s lost ring from a pool. According to authorities, Guilherme got trapped underwater and drowned after being pulled into the pool’s drainage system.
The incident occurred at the Water Bomb attraction, where Guilherme’s colleagues noticed his absence and took immediate action. They rescued him from the water, administered first aid, and called for emergency medical assistance. Despite their efforts, Guilherme passed away shortly after being taken to Nossa Senhora Aparecida Municipal Hospital.
Reports indicate that Guilherme had been working at the park for over two years and had recently been promoted to a leadership position. Wet’n Wild clarified that the Water Bomb attraction does not feature a bottom drain and explained the hydraulic system’s use of side drains positioned away from the water slide exit and visitor areas.
City officials confirmed that the park is in compliance with all necessary regulations and permits. Wet’n Wild announced the temporary closure of the park and expressed condolences to Guilherme’s family, assuring cooperation with ongoing investigations.
Following the necessary procedures, Guilherme’s body was transferred to the Forensic Medical Institute in Jundiaà before being laid to rest in Bragança Paulista. The park authorities are working closely with the authorities as inquiries into the tragic incident continue.
