A renowned theme park in Devon is gearing up to enhance its array of family-friendly attractions by introducing two new rides in 2026, scheduled to launch during the spring and summer seasons.
Crealy, situated in Clyst St Mary, Exeter, received accolades for being the Best Theme Park for Families (Small) and the Best Theme Park for Toddlers (Small) due to its Sooty Land experience at the 2025 UK Theme Park Awards.
The upcoming pair of attractions will add to the existing lineup of over 60 rides and activities at Crealy, which includes popular features like the Tidal Wave log flume and the unique Roman-themed Maximus Rollercoaster.
In the spring, Pirates’ Plummet will be unveiled, poised to become the highest drop tower adventure in the South West. Previously known as Magma at Paultons Park in Hampshire, this attraction is now undergoing a pirate-themed makeover as it relocates to Devon, promising thrills for visitors taller than 110cm. Those above 130cm can ride solo, according to Devon Live.
During the summer, Rotor will make its debut as the region’s first inverted attraction. This high-speed ride will twirl and flip passengers, providing an exhilarating experience that simulates defying gravity.
Although limited information has been shared about Rotor, preview images suggest participants will be securely seated during the ride. Since its establishment in the late 1980s, Crealy’s theme park has been a beloved destination for families.
In a statement, the park expressed its aim to broaden its appeal to older children while maintaining its commitment to delivering memorable experiences across generations.
Over the years, Crealy has introduced various enhancements. In 2022, it introduced Sooty Land, the UK’s inaugural theme park area dedicated solely to the popular children’s show Sooty. The land features The Sooty Show Live, where Sooty, Sweep, and friends entertain audiences of all ages on stage.
Additionally, four Sooty-themed rides were added, such as Sweep’s Flying Circus and Izzy Wizzy Let’s Get Dizzy, along with opportunities for youngsters to meet their favorite characters during special sessions.
In 2012, the park expanded its offerings to include on-site accommodation options such as lodges, glamping facilities, and camping spots. Families can opt for stay-and-play packages that include lodging and unlimited park access throughout their stay.
Staying at Crealy provides convenient access to Exeter, where visitors can explore historic sites like Exeter Cathedral and the Royal Albert Memorial Museum. A short trip to the coast leads to Exmouth, a charming seaside town with a beautiful sandy beach and traditional British seaside vibes.
Exmouth is also home to the World of Country Life, a farming museum with indoor and outdoor attractions, as well as the delightful Exmouth Museum, where guests can delve into the rich history of South Devon.
