However, Evans’ participation in the 2023 Davis Cup Finals was cut short due to an injury. In the recent 2025 Davis Cup Finals, Britain faced a defeat to Japan in the opening qualifying round, eliminating them from the competition. Italy, led by Matteo Berrettini and Flavio Cobolli, advanced to the semi-finals, showcasing strong performances despite missing key players.
Berrettini’s victory against Jurij Rodionov and Cobolli’s win over Filip Misolic secured Italy’s spot in the last four, setting up a thrilling semi-final clash with Belgium.
