“Corgi Race Vilnius: 150 Dogs Compete in International Event”

150 corgis recently gathered for an international event in Lithuania to celebrate the small herding dogs originally from Wales. The Corgi Race Vilnius featured various activities such as a costume parade, a competition to find the “smartest nose,” and a contest for the loudest bark. Participants from nine countries, including the United States and Britain, competed in the event.

Organizer Edvinas Miskas highlighted the significant growth of the event, stating that from its humble beginnings with 40 corgis from one city, it now attracts 150 dogs from multiple countries. The competition’s popularity has led to Vilnius being dubbed the European capital of corgis.

The main race saw 94 dogs competing in qualifiers, semifinals, and the final, with the American corgi named GG emerging as the winner. Other notable participants included Mr. Corgington from the U.S. and Lithuania’s Moka, a former champion.

Beyond the speed race, the event also featured a costume parade with creative outfits, a “smartest nose” challenge involving hidden treats, and a contest to determine the dog with the loudest bark. Mr. Corgington clinched the title for the loudest bark, showcasing his training and experience as a competitor.

The competition attracted both first-time participants and seasoned veterans, with some corgis attending every edition of the event. The diverse range of activities and the enthusiastic participation of corgis and their owners made the event a memorable celebration of these beloved herding dogs.
