Leanne Quigley, the winner of the show “Traitors,” recently shared the harrowing experience of seeing her newborn son fight for his life. The reality star, aged 30, gave birth prematurely to twin boys with her partner Sophie, leading to a series of life-threatening complications.
As a former member of the armed forces, Leanne triumphed on “The Traitors” show last year alongside Jake Brown. However, the birth of her sons was premature, occurring at just 26 weeks gestation, with both babies still enclosed in their amniotic sacs and their eyelids fused together.
Reflecting on the distressing start to her sons’ lives, Leanne described how the babies appeared underdeveloped, with their skin extremely fragile and reddened. Both Hudson and Harley were swiftly transferred to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for specialized care.
Amidst the challenging situation, Sophie, Leanne’s partner, developed a chest infection, preventing her from visiting the babies for a week. This left Leanne alone at the hospital, caring for her critically ill sons who were facing multiple health complications.
One evening, while Leanne was briefly away for food, she received a distressing call informing her of Harley’s plummeting oxygen levels. Rushing back to the hospital, Leanne witnessed the intense efforts of medical staff to stabilize her son.
The situation became even more critical when doctors struggled to intubate Harley, leading to a moment of panic as Leanne feared for his life. Despite the dire circumstances, both Hudson and Harley defied the odds and survived, eventually growing into healthy young boys.
However, the trauma of those initial days in the hospital continues to linger for Leanne, who shared her emotional journey during Prematurity Awareness Month last November. She expressed gratitude for the strength she found within herself and her family, acknowledging the lasting impact of the experience.
Leanne’s heartfelt message on Instagram resonated with many families going through similar challenges, honoring the resilience of premature babies and their families. She remains grateful for the progress and growth of her sons, Hudson and Harley, who symbolize resilience and strength every day.
