“Sky Q Shifts to Internet Devices; Humax Aura EZ Emerges as Competitor”

Sky Q, known for its exceptional features, faces a shift away from its satellite-based platform towards internet-focused devices like the Sky Stream box and Sky Glass TV. This move by Sky hints at a potential new competitor entering the market.

Humax introduces the Aura EZ 4K TV Recorder as a viable alternative to Sky Q, boasting a 2TB internal storage capacity for recording TV shows, movies, and sports. The box is powered by Freely, allowing users to enjoy live TV over broadband, complemented by over 60 live channels and an extensive on-demand content library.

The Aura EZ also offers 4K HDR picture quality, Dolby Digital Plus audio, and a user-friendly integrated TV guide. With the Humax Aura EZ smartphone app, users can control the box remotely, managing schedules and recordings from anywhere.

While not matching Sky’s premium offerings, Freely comes at no cost to users, without any subscription fees. The Humax Aura EZ is scheduled for a February 2026 release in the UK, priced at £249.

In parallel, Sky unveils a new subscription bundle merging top streaming services at a discounted monthly rate of £24. Subscribers gain access to Disney+, Netflix, Hayu, and the upcoming HBO Max, alongside over 130 premium channels like Sky Comedy and Sky Documentaries.

Moreover, Sky Cinema customers will enjoy a new Disney movie channel directly integrated into the TV guide within the bundle. Key inclusions are Netflix Standard with Ads, Disney+ Standard with Ads (effective March), HBO Max Basic with Ads (starting March 26), Hayu (from July, with select content available in March), and over 130 Sky channels.
