Homes looking to enjoy television content without ongoing subscription fees now have an expanded array of choices. Initially introduced in 2024, Freely made its debut by offering live channel access through an internet connection, limited to select new TV models. However, in the past 18 months, more TV brands like Hisense, Toshiba, and Sharp have integrated Freely into their screens. Previously, viewers interested in utilizing the platform for live and on-demand content had to purchase a new television set.
Fortunately, Manhattan’s tech team recently revealed a new solution to this constraint by introducing a Freely-powered set-top box named Aero 4K. This innovative device provides access to over 60 live channels and on-demand content at no cost, without requiring an expensive subscription.
The Aero 4K box offers additional features such as voice search, personalized viewing suggestions, a comprehensive TV guide, and the ability to pause live programs. Subscribers to streaming services like Disney+ and Netflix can also access these applications through the box.
Priced at £69.99, the Aero 4K has garnered significant popularity. Currys has become the first UK retailer to offer the Manhattan Aero 4K, and the latest update indicates that it is already sold out. The retailer confirmed that the device quickly ran out of stock but will soon be restocked.
Interested buyers can register their email addresses on the Currys website to receive notifications when the product becomes available again. It is anticipated that other retailers, including Amazon and John Lewis, will also start selling the Aero 4K soon.
Once back in stock, the Aero 4K will compete with devices like Virgin’s Stream box and Sky Stream, which eliminate the need for traditional aerials or satellite dishes by delivering content over the internet.
Transitioning to streaming services offers advantages such as simplified installation processes without requiring professional assistance and more frequent software updates.
The television landscape is evolving rapidly, with Freely announcing a user base exceeding one million. This figure is expected to rise as more individuals abandon conventional viewing methods in favor of streaming alternatives.
