In a matter of days, I will present my second Budget as the Chancellor. My focus will be on supporting working families by addressing NHS waiting lists, reducing national debt, and alleviating the cost of living. These objectives align with both the nation’s priorities and my own as Chancellor.
The commitment to reducing NHS waiting lists stems from our pledge to revitalize the NHS after years of austerity measures, ensuring patients receive timely treatment without prolonged waits. Addressing national debt is crucial to redirecting funds from debt interest towards essential services like education, healthcare, law enforcement, and community development.
Mitigating the cost of living is a key concern, especially for households facing financial pressures. The current economic landscape disproportionately affects ordinary families, highlighting the need for intervention. The upcoming Budget will include measures to address these challenges, building on existing efforts to ease financial burdens on households.
Initiatives such as maintaining frozen prescription charges and rail fares, introducing school breakfast clubs, and combating ticket scalping have already provided relief to many. However, the Budget will introduce further steps to enhance affordability for individuals and families.
Our ability to tackle the cost of living is underpinned by the economic stability we have achieved. By maintaining fiscal discipline and cracking down on inefficiencies and fraud, we ensure that resources are allocated efficiently, whether in asylum support, governance reforms, or welfare oversight.
This Budget is designed to benefit you and your family, aiming to create a more equitable, resilient, and secure society.
