“Gordie Howe Bridge Sees Surge in Traffic Post-Inauguration”

Statistics Canada has reported that a significant number of drivers crossed the newly opened Gordie Howe International Bridge into Canada in the initial days after its inauguration. The bridge, connecting Windsor and Detroit, finally welcomed traffic on July 27, following a series of delays. According to preliminary data from StatCan, there were 18,900 return trips made by Canadian residents from the United States via the Gordie Howe bridge during the first five days of its operation. Likewise, 18,100 U.S. residents entered Canada by crossing the same bridge during that period. In contrast, the Ambassador Bridge and the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel collectively recorded 52,700 inbound trips by both Canadians and U.S. residents in the same timeframe. Additionally, StatCan noted that 4,100 commercial trucks entered Canada via the Gordie Howe bridge in the last five days of July.
