“Freely TV Challenges Sky & Freeview with Spotlight Channels”

A new player has entered the TV market in the UK, challenging the dominance of Sky and Freeview. Freely, launched in 2024, has quickly gained popularity, with over one million households already switching to the platform.

Since its inception, Freely has continuously enhanced its features and expanded its content offerings. Users can now access over 50 live channels without the need for traditional aerial or satellite dish installations.

In a recent development, Freely introduced its Freely Spotlight Channels, providing additional entertainment options to viewers at no extra cost. These channels can be streamed solely through a standard Wi-Fi connection and will be accessible on channel 31, as well as channels 90 to 99, including for CTV OS partners on Freely-enabled devices.

V, the company behind the VIDAA OS smart TV platform used in Hisense televisions, has been revealed as the launch partner for Freely Spotlight Channels. This partnership will bring a curated selection of channels to the Freely TV Guide, positioning the new channels alongside established UK broadcasters.

While specific content details for the Freely Spotlight Channels are yet to be disclosed, more information is anticipated closer to the launch date. Deep Halder, Chief Commercial Officer at Everyone TV, expressed enthusiasm for the platform’s growth and the opportunities it presents for partners and viewers alike.

For those unfamiliar with Freely, it is managed by the same team responsible for Freeview and Freesat but stands out by delivering all content through broadband, eliminating the need for external equipment. To access Freely, households only require a compatible TV or set-top box and a stable Wi-Fi connection.

The platform currently offers a diverse range of features, including over 50 live channels, on-demand content, personalized recommendations, a comprehensive TV guide, and the ability to pause live television.
