The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is reminding parents to ensure that their children are up to date with vaccinations to protect them from serious diseases like measles and whooping cough. The agency advises parents to check their children’s vaccination records in their red book or consult their GP practice if there are any missed vaccinations.
The NHS also stresses the importance of timely vaccinations for optimal protection. If any vaccinations are missed, parents can easily contact their GP to catch up on the schedule. The typical vaccination schedule for children includes doses at eight weeks, 12 weeks, 16 weeks, one year, one year and six months (18 months), ages two to 15 years, three years and four months, 12 to 13 years, and 14 years.
In addition, certain vulnerable groups, such as children with compromised immune systems or chronic health conditions, can access specific vaccines through the NHS for added safeguarding. For more details on vaccinations for young individuals, visit the NHS website.
