Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has reportedly requested a pardon from President Donald Trump for his prison sentence. However, Trump, aged 79, has described the disgraced rapper as “very hostile” and indicated that he will not grant the request. Their friendship deteriorated when Trump initially ran for president in 2016.
Combs, also known as P Diddy in the music industry, was recently convicted of prostitution-related charges and sentenced to 50 months in jail in October. Despite this, he is seeking assistance from his former friend, Trump. The President mentioned that their relationship soured due to Combs’ negative comments about him during the 2016 election campaign.
Trump stated that he has no plans to fulfill Combs’ request, citing the strained relationship between them. He emphasized that past statements made by Combs during the elections have made it difficult for him to consider the pardon. Despite their previous close relationship in the late 1990s, as evidenced by photographs from various events, their current interactions are marred by political differences.
Combs reportedly sent a letter to Trump last month requesting a pardon, less than three months into his prison term. Trump was asked about the letter but did not provide any details. Trump’s previous remarks to the media from a May interview paint a challenging picture for Combs, who was convicted of prostitution-related charges but acquitted of more serious charges like racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.
