“Nurse Reveals Quick Ways to Lower Cholesterol”

A cardiac nurse has suggested effective methods to reduce cholesterol levels within a short period of two to three weeks. Implementing these recommendations could potentially lower the risk of heart-related issues like heart attacks and strokes.

Elevated cholesterol levels indicate an excess of cholesterol, a fatty substance, in the bloodstream. This condition can lead to the hardening and narrowing of arteries over time, hindering proper blood circulation.

To combat high cholesterol levels, cardiac nurse Ruth Goss, in her insights shared through the British Heart Foundation, emphasized the importance of making dietary adjustments. By reducing saturated fat intake, increasing fiber consumption, and adopting a balanced diet such as the Mediterranean diet, individuals can potentially witness up to a 10% decrease in cholesterol levels within eight to 12 weeks.

In addition to dietary changes, engaging in regular physical activity is crucial for cholesterol reduction. Ruth highlighted that dedicating 150 minutes per week to exercise can effectively lower “bad” cholesterol levels.

Furthermore, Ruth recommended quitting smoking as it can exacerbate cholesterol accumulation on artery walls due to its adhesive properties. Smoking can also decrease the levels of beneficial HDL-cholesterol, which aids in removing cholesterol deposits from artery walls. Ceasing smoking can lead to reduced blood stickiness within two to three weeks, consequently lowering bad cholesterol levels.

In cases where lifestyle modifications are insufficient, doctors may prescribe medications to manage high cholesterol levels. Statins are commonly prescribed for this purpose, showing cholesterol-lowering effects within three to four weeks. However, not everyone may be suitable for statin therapy, and alternative medications may be recommended by healthcare providers.
