Met Office warns Brits of “multi-hazard” weather onslaught

The Met Office has issued warnings for potential “multi-hazard” conditions facing Brits later this week, including disruptive snow, wind, and rain. Temperatures could plummet to as low as -12C in certain areas following heavy snowfall in Scotland. Schools across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland have been forced to close due to snowy conditions.

Met Office alerts for snow and ice remain in effect across large parts of the country, with an amber warning in place for northern Scotland expecting an additional six inches of snow. Brits are bracing for three distinct weather scenarios from Thursday to Friday, with significant snowfall anticipated.

Storm Goretti, named by Meteo France, is forecasted to bring snow and strong winds starting Thursday. England and Wales could see up to eight more inches of snow. The potential scenarios include snowfall across various regions, with the likelihood ranging from 50% to 20%, impacting different parts of the UK.

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Mike Silverstone highlighted the uncertainty regarding the low-pressure system expected to move in from the west, emphasizing the significance of tracking its position for predicting severe weather impacts. The public is advised to stay updated on weather forecasts as details may change as the week progresses.
