Lorraine Kelly recently shared her experience of filming a new show on Channel 4, where she embarked on an adventurous journey in Norway. The 66-year-old presenter explored various aspects of Norwegian culture, including fishing for cod, receiving goat massages, and taking a dip in icy waters.
During the show, Lorraine had several memorable moments, one of which was catching a large cod on her first attempt, a feat that reminded her of her late father and filled her with emotion. She also expressed her excitement about encountering sea eagles, meeting the Sami people, and indulging in a goat massage, which she humorously declared as her new favorite activity.
In a departure from her usual morning talk show, Lorraine described the Channel 4 program as a chance for viewers to see a different side of her – makeup-free, with disheveled hair, and occasionally using colorful language. The show offers a glimpse into her unscripted adventures, from plunging into freezing waters to assisting with farm tasks.
Channel 4 teased that Lorraine’s travels in Norway would include encounters with locals preserving the country’s rich heritage, exploring Nordic tales, and sampling regional crafts and cuisine. The journey will culminate in a quest to witness the breathtaking Northern Lights.
This new venture coincides with changes to Lorraine’s ITV program, which has been shortened to 30 minutes and will have a reduced number of episodes. The restructuring also affects other morning shows, with Good Morning Britain receiving an extended time slot and Loose Women transitioning to seasonal broadcasts without a live audience.
Reflecting on the industry changes, Lorraine acknowledged the evolving landscape of television and expressed optimism about the future. Despite uncertainties, she remains dedicated to her work and is open to whatever opportunities may arise.
In addition to her television career, Lorraine has ventured into writing, with her debut novel, The Island Swimmer, set to be released in 2024. She has confirmed plans for more writing projects and recently filled in for Jeremy Vine on his BBC Radio 2 show during the holiday season.
Fans can catch Lorraine on ITV and ITVX weekdays at 9.30 am, and her travel show, Lorraine Kelly’s Norwegian Odyssey, will premiere on Channel 4 on January 15th at 8 pm.
