Ghislaine Maxwell’s former residence in New York City is back on the market with a substantial asking price. Situated on East 65th Street in the Upper East Side, the property was acquired by real estate magnate Frederick Rudd for $15 million (£11 million) in 2016, with Maxwell agreeing to a price $4 million (£3.7 million) below the initial listing.
Following Rudd’s passing at 70 last year, the five-story townhouse is now available for $17.75 million (£13 million). Described as a “stunning 1910 Beaux-Arts-style limestone and brick townhouse,” the listing highlights its prime location on a sought-after Manhattan street.
The New York Post reported that the property, which underwent a full renovation, boasts high ceilings, two fireplaces, and white oak flooring, creating an ideal setting for elegant gatherings. Maxwell, a disgraced British socialite, received the residence from a lawyer representing Jeffrey Epstein in 2000 and utilized it for hosting private events attended by notable figures.
In recent news, exclusive images of Maxwell heading to a yoga session have surfaced after her relocation to a new correctional facility where she is serving her sentence. This move sparked outrage among her victims, given her transfer to a minimum-security prison, contravening US regulations for sex offenders.
A survivor of Epstein’s abuse criticized Maxwell’s privileged treatment, denouncing it as a disregard for the suffering of victims. Maxwell was convicted in 2022 for her role in facilitating Epstein’s exploitation of underage girls. Despite receiving a 20-year sentence, it was seen as a long-awaited victory for those seeking justice against the predatory pair.
Epstein, who took his own life in 2019, was accused of sexually assaulting numerous young girls over many years, with prosecutors asserting that Maxwell played a pivotal role in enabling his crimes. Despite the sentence being perceived as lenient by some, Epstein’s survivors expressed relief and a sense of closure after enduring a prolonged battle for accountability.
